THAT'S SO BADASS! The beginning reminded me of a raid in Star Wars of a Wookie village or something. I continue to be in awe of your Flash ability as well as being envious and yet setting the bar for myself. I've never been so excited or into Sonic before... Lol.
very nice. Have you at all considered using an interactive semi-game narrative for this?
IE a "level based comic" where your story is literally a game unto itself in each installment... not necessarily a complex or difficult one, but one that exposes the plot in such a way the the viewer/player is well involved, and thus becomes more invested in it...?
I keep meaning to do it myself, but I can't seem to settle on any one project. You obviously have the animation skill to pull it off, the only other thing to take into account here is programming. Granted it would be more difficult than simply animating a scene from beginning to end, but on the other hand, you can take a short filler sequence and turn it into a worthwhile experience by adding a few enemies a power up and a small map into the mix... it would also be a good way to transition from one plot location to another, without hours upon hours of animating...
Essentially you make a small game program and drop it into whatever animations need it and build the scenery and you're done, without having to recreate a bunch of stuff.
Then again that may simply be something you don't want to do, but there's the idea.
Aside from minor slowdowns in a few places, (probably due to my computer more than the animation) it was pretty well off. Look forward to another one.
Are you asking that this is going to have 2d-game-like cinematic, then yes to a degree; I don't want to overdo it. I've written the overall story in a way where each ep contains 3 acts, similar to the original Sonic1 game. I may implement the Act signs to label the scenario in-show but I haven't decided yet. (that's what the chapter menu is for)
It'd probably be better making this kind of a game first, if that's what you mean, but something like that sounds like it would double my workload.
'Less you mean programming a game with Flash itself, which case I've thought about but again would extent my workload in the very limited time I have in animating Flash right now.
But then there's programming the sprites to behave like that of a game and making a series out of that; if I knew how to do that, I would...
It's not that it's time-consuming - it very well is... I covered more in this than what most people could guess.
I just need the motivation to keep working on it and creativity to make my flash series and ideas different from everyone else's - which feed on my motivation.
If either above isn't what you meant, sorry for the misconception, kinda pressed for time on a number of things and I can't think too heavy on this right now.
I do worry about the slowdowns; it does plays well on some computers but not so well on other - that's what bothers me the most at times.
Well basically I was suggesting using gamelike sprite animations for large portions of basic animation, and possibly having the ability for the viewer to take control of a character and navigate (or explore and talk to other characters) on their own, before getting to the actual main plot scene...
Basically allowing even a short animation to be worth watching as much as a long one, due to the fact that there are things the viewer can DO.
It is a heavy task at first, but once the framework is done it can be applied endlessly... modular construction basically...
As for the slowdowns, I seriously doubt it's the video... I'm on a very low power machine designed for checking email and uh... well no that's about it.
While I think its still a good idea artistically and all... I just read about recent events... so obviously it's a low priority. Still, I want to wish you the best of fortunes, artistically and otherwise.
You'll make it through, just keep pushing forward.
Honestly if I had my original PC working still I'd try writing up the basic flash stuff... sadly that one is kaput. Work on what you need to, but don't forget that resting IS a necessary thing.
Realy liked it.
Just letting you know if you didn't that the episode is pretty much done- despite some needed sound tweaking I'm considering.
